The Mission of the Board is "To regulate engineering practice in Tanzania and promote engineering excellence amongst local engineers and engineering consulting firms with a view to enhancing their competitiveness and professionalism in the engineering practice".

Tanzania through Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication (MoWTC) is an active member of International World Road Association (PIARC).

During the Technical Committee kick off meeting the committee members discussed among others the issue of pavement materials scarcity. Due to significance of such material in road works it was resolved to invite case studies from stakeholders in PIARC member countries

The Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is a Regulatory body established by an Act of Parliament and has been given the responsibility of registering engineers and engineering consulting firms and monitoring their engineering activities, conduct and ethics. Under the Act, it is illegal to practice engineering if not registered with the Board. The Board can also withdraw the right to practice the profession from the register of engineers and engineering consulting firms for those who contravene the Act or fail to abide by the Board’s regulations and code of conduct and ethics.

Section 10(3) of the Engineers Registration Act No. 15 of 1997 as amended by Act No. 24 of 2007 and Regulation 41(2) of the Engineers Registration Regulations, 2010 provides for the qualifications for registration as Engineering Consulting Firm. Also Section 12A(1) requires the firm to have a valid practicing License each year.
Further, Section 9 of the Engineers Registration Regulations 2010 (G.N.No.35 of January 29, 2010) provides for the obligation by the Engineering Consulting Firm and the Engineer that include to pay annual fees by 1st January of each calendar year, failure of non payment for two years shall cause the Board to delete the name from the Register.
The Board wishes to notify the underlisted Engineering Consulting Firms that, effective from May 22, 2020 they will be suspended from the practise unless they clear with the Board on their registration status, payment of outstanding fees and submit annual returns and corresponding penalty.
All employers and users of engineering services are directed to stop employing engineers and/or engineering firms that do not possess valid practicing license.

NOTICE TO EMPLOYERS OF ENGINEERS AND CONSUMERS OF ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Pursuant to Section 12A of the Engineers Registration Act No. 15 of 1997 and its amendments, it is a legal requirement for Engineers and Engineering Consulting Firms to possess Engineering Practising License. Since 2011 to date, the Board has been issuing Engineering Practising License to all practising engineers and Engineering Consulting Firms.

The Engineers Registration Board wishes to inform all Employers of Engineers and consumers of engineering consultancy service that they are required to demand a valid Engineering Practising License before employing engineers and/or Engineering Consulting Firms.

CONTRIBUTION TO ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT FACILITY


Following Engineer’s Resolutions during Annual Engineers Day on September 07, 2018 that all registered engineers, engineering technicians and firms to contribute to the facility and therefore the Board through the Government Notice (GN.746) published on 7th December 2018 instituted the Engineering Development Facility (EDF) which will cater for various engineering projects.

The Board wishes to inform all Professional and Consulting Engineers that, Pursuant to Section 12A of the Engineers Registration Act No. 15 of 1997 and its amendments, they are required to posses valid Practising License. The current Licenses are due to expire on December 31, 2019. Renewal of the Licenses is subject to submission CPD logbook electronically by inserting CPD activities through registration.erb.go.tz for the past 3 years (i.e. 2017 - 2019), taking Engineers Oath (for those who haven’t) and payment of relevant fees. 

CPD log book to be filled along with the CPD Evaluation Form in order to renew the Engineering Practising License of 2019, Click the below link and download the required Forms.
