Committees
BOARD COMMITTEE
The Board has three committees, each with different functions. These are:
1. Executive Committee (EXCO)
2. Registration and Technical Affairs Committee (ReTAC)
3. Professional Development Affairs Committee (PDAC)
When the situation demands, the Board forms Ad hoc Committees.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (EXCO)
Executive Committee (EXCO) The Executive Committee is chaired by the Board Chairman and serviced by the Registrar. Its terms of reference include:
(a) To handle urgent and emergency issues on behalf of the Board.
(b) To link with other Boards and professional institutions within and outside Tanzania.
(c) To link with government ministries and departments.
(d) To oversee the finance and administration affairs of the Board.
(e) To develop, review or update bye-laws and regulations.
(f ) To scrutinize policy issues before transmitting them to the Board for decision.
REGISTRATION and TECHNICAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE (ReTAC)
Registration and Technical ReTAC is chaired by Board Member elected by the Board and serviced by the Assistant Registrar for Registration and Technical Affairs. Terms of reference of the Committee are:
(a) To process applications for registration.
(b) To monitor professional activities of engineers and engineering consulting firms.
(c) To conduct professional interviews for candidates applying for registration.
(d) To ascertain deployment of registered engineers to perform engineering duties.
(e) To advise the Board on matters relating to technical affairs of the Board.
(f ) To ensure compliance of Code of Conduct and Ethics for engineering practice.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE (PDAC)
Professional Development Affairs PDAC is also chaired by a Board Member and serviced by the Assistant Registrar for professional Development Affairs. Terms of reference of the Committee include:
(a) To certify academic awards.
(b) To administer ERB examinations.
(c) To establish, operationalise and later coordinate the engineers apprenticeship (internship) for graduates.
(d) To organize continuing professional development programmes for engineers of all categories.
(e) To organize seminars, workshops and conferences.
(f ) To coordinate competence building programmes for engineering consulting firms.
(g) To oversee ERB publications.
(h) To advise the Board on matters relating to professional development affairs of the Board
