Members of the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) have conducted an inspection visit to two major strategic infrastructure projects under construction in Dodoma City: the Dodoma City Outer Ring Road and the Msalato International Airport.

The Dodoma City Outer Ring Road Project, which spans 112.3 kilometres, is being implemented at a cost of over TZS 220 billion.

The visit forms part of ERB's statutory mandate to regulate and oversee engineering practice in Tanzania, while ensuring that engineering works are executed in compliance with the relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and engineering best practices.

Speaking during the visit, ERB Board Chairman, Eng. Prof. Bakari Mwinyiwiwa, said the inspection was part of the Board's responsibility to monitor and assess the implementation of engineering projects across the country.

"This visit is part of the Board's responsibilities. Overall, the implementation of these projects is progressing well and demonstrates a commendable level of execution," said Prof. Mwinyiwiwa.

He further noted that the projects are expected to serve as key drivers of economic development for Dodoma City and Tanzania as a whole by improving infrastructure, easing transportation, and enhancing the efficiency of both domestic and international travel.

On his part, the Acting TANROADS Regional Manager for Dodoma, Eng. Alinanuswe Mwakilumwe, stated that the implementation of both projects is progressing satisfactorily and that their completion will significantly contribute to the country's socio-economic development.

The Msalato International Airport Project, valued at more than TZS 626 billion, is among Tanzania's flagship strategic infrastructure projects. Once completed, the airport is expected to strengthen air transport services, promote trade, attract investment, boost tourism, and create greater economic opportunities for the nation.
